Fate: Is it real?

I do and do not think that fate is real. It's a subject that confuses me greatly, just like "true love."
Not everything is left to fate. I do not believe that it controls our lives and that our lives revolve around it. However, in certain situations, some things are inevitable. In those certain situations, it doesn't matter what you do, it's going to end up the same.
